Mr.
Bob Barzelay began his self-storage career in 1992 when he joined Storage Investment
Management Inc. as Sales Manager of Boston Self Storage, later to become Planet Self
Storage of South Boston.
As Sales Manager, Barzelay became familiar with the day to day operations of self
storage facilities. During this period Barzelay increased gross income by over 200%
and the net operating income of the facility increased by over 250%.
This was accomplished by Barzelay's judicious use of supply and demand pricing,
controlling delinquency and optimizing occupancy.
In 1997 Barzelay was promoted to the position of Senior Area Sales Manager. In this
capacity, Barzelay was responsible for the daily operations of 8 self storage
facilities throughout the greater Boston area.
These facilities comprise approximately 250.000 square feet of rentable space with
3,000 self storage units. His managerial responsibilities include facility startup,
setting up & coordinating lien sales, hiring and staffing, conducting routine audits,
budget planning, and assisting managers in attaining their facility financial goals.
Barzelay has recently been promoted to Vice President/MIS.
Barzelay's current responsibilities include supervision of 6 properties comprising
over 200,000 square feet and over 1,900 rental units.
Additionally, Barzelay will motivate and direct staff to achieve financial
objectives, oversee marketing programs, ensure quality control and provide upper
level management to facilitate S.I.M.I.'s growth.
As Manager of Information Systems for S.I.M.I. Barzelay facilitates S.I.M.I.'s
computerized data processing and information transfer systems. Barzelay has extensive
knowledge of the Microsoft Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office suite and
Internet browser packages. In addition, Barzelay has become knowledgeable with
Self-Storage specific software including Domico, Space Control, Storage Commander, &
StorMan.
